Of course, my natural curiosity led me to take a closer look. "Ugli Fruit" is what the sign said.  I looked over them.  Some were green, some were yellow, some had blotches...and they all had a huge dent in the bottom.  I decided to pick one up...


This is MY ugli fruit.  I figured since there were yellow AND green ones, I'd pick one with both so that it would be at least halfway ripe.

I then cut into the leathery fruit.  It had very thick skin.  I wondered what color it would be inside... yellow? blue? *shudder* brown?

Oh. It's orange.  I guess that's okay. Smells like Citrus. 

I then pondered eating a slice.  I gave the slice a look of curiosity.

Well, it looks more like a glare of rage.  I was trying to do the raise-the-eyebrow look.  I guess I look pissed when I do that.

It was good.  Tasted like an orange, but a little softer.  Very squishy and juicy, and easy to separate from the peel.  I was pleased.  It was a lot easier than eating an orange, where I always end up with shreds of peel, seeds on my face, sticky fingers, and an unsatisfied appetite.

Mmmm... Doesn't taste as ugli as it looks.
