Hi there, I just joined this community of fish lovers. I thought I would introduce myself. I have a 46 gal tank with a lot of fish! I know the rules and that I'm not supposed to overstock, but I intend to upgrade by the time my angels get too big so please do not get too negative. My current stocklist of babies:
4 koi angelfish
1 pearlscale angelfish
1 marble angelfish
1 gold panda angelfish
1 black angelfish
1 King Tiger (L066) Pleco
1 Gold Nugget (L018) Pleco
6 Neon Tetras
6 Pristella Tetras

Right now, everyone is living happily with each other. I intend to add a few more plants in there. I have an Emperor 400 filter and I'm using a Colormax Intensifier T6 bulb (it is nice but quite dim so I might have to find something better but within my budget).

What is this? I don't know. I've got nothing.
Hi! Ok, so I have a black mystery snail and a betta fish, and for a few days now mister snail hasn't been moving-- I'd read that they do that sometimes, so I wasn't -too- concerned, except that there's some kind of... sort of gel-like white stuff along one side of his mantle where his trapdoor is. The trapdoor -seems- to be firmly shut, except along that side, where it looks like the stuff might be coming from under it. So I was kind of worried because once before when he shut himself up for a few days I didn't see that-- he also smells a little odd, but not rotting-fish bad, and since I don't make a practice of smelling snails, I don't know if that's a bad sign or not.
So-- does it sound like he's dead? I don't want to just toss him in the trash if he's actually still alive (actually I don't want to toss him in the trash period but I don't really know what else I could do)! But I also don't want the body to yuck up my tank. He didn't seem ill or anything the last time I saw him moving around, so it seems very odd that he'd die.
Anyway, I hope someone can help! Thakn you very much.

Today I am finishing up a paper that's due tomorrow. I just found out that everything needs to be cited in-paper, so here goes some backtracking! And something that really torkes me off about this paper? - it's worth 50 points, and it has to be 8 pages long. Say what? Also, those 8 pages are single-spaced. Double what?
Also, doing laundry and finishing packing for ACen.

I'm taking American Music Appreciation this semester - it's an online course, and you work at your own pace. This means that you read the chapters, listen to the music, write the papers, and take the quizzes whenever you want to. Everything is due at the end of the semester.
Needless to say, I am working feverishly today to get everything done. By tomorrow.

Advisory Board Nominations
We'd like to remind you that the nomination process for LiveJournal Advisory Board user-representatives has begun. If you think you're fit for the job, now's the time to nominate yourself! After all, you're the only who can do it. In two weeks, on the 22nd, the voting process will begin; we'll remind you about it again here.
If you're interested in keeping up with the nominations, watch
Does anyone remember that scholarship I was ranting about a while back? I know
dali_lamb heard about it...how I didn't want to do it, how my parents were making me fill it out...how it was a waste of time and there was too much work involved? I can't remember if I posted here about it or not.
Well. I got it. $800 to take with me next semester to the U of I.
Crazy how things work out, yeah?

Last day of classes today. I am so psyched. ACen is a week away. My costume is ready, and I'm ready. w00t!
Today is National Grump Day. The way you celebrate is by not being a grump. We've instituted this in our house, because...well...Dad is a grump.

Part of this is based on reality. I did have an orange this morning, and it was bland and awful.

Hmm... update tiem nao??
Birthday: Really great, thanks everyone for the well wishings! I got "Revenge of the Nerds" on dvd :B as well as "Grease!" Oh yes, I am a Grease fan fo' sho'!!! I like catchy songs and the story is squee <3 Liz brought me Mario Kart, Smash Bros. Brawl, and Super Paper Mario for the Wii. I'm so excited and happy THANKS YOU GUYS! Also, my parents are going to take me shopping for a laptop XD Sooooo happy~~~ Awesome 20th birthday!
Cosplay: Alright, I was looking through my archives, especially at last year, and have to roll my eyes. My plans were so damn grandiose and every other week was like "Maybe I'll finish this?" I'm not saying I'm 100% confident that everything I want to complete will be done this year, but I'm a hell of a lot closer than last year!
I have made a tentative list of things to do this week to ensure that my costumes get finished before next week. The goals are realistic and achievable and I'm sure I can accomplish them without my schoolwork and body suffering for it.
Onto some awesome news: Regarding Misty May: Ok, so we were having some issues with the bodysuit. The large one was that there was a seam right down the middle of it, and considering Misty May has a bare midriff cause me to freak out. So, Wilma got online and found what she thought was a seamless body suit. Turns out it was just a shirt. I paid for it though, but have yet to receive it (two weeks, wtf?) and planned to serge the bottom of other to the shirt, =no seams. Well, I've been freaking out b/c it hasn't come in yet. However, Liz was over yesterday and I wanting to try everything on (I took pictures and will be posting them when I'm at home). I was so upset that it wasn't working and perishing the thought of wearing it without a bodysuit, I was screaming at Wilma and vice versa, until I decided to turn the top...........
........O.O.......O.O..... What do you know, it worked!! When I turn it, you can't even see the seam, it's hidden behind the red front!!! Wilma and I rejoiced and hugged each other, happy to know I don't have to screw around with nylon and worry about the shirt coming in.
Anyway, here's to hoping that next year at ACEN I'm not looking at these posts and saying: "Yeah, totally didn't finish that up -_-"

Advisory Board Nominations Begin
This morning we are opening the nomination process for the user-representative positions on the LiveJournal Advisory Board. A full description of the process can be found here.
To get you started, here are the basic things you should know:
- You may only nominate yourself
- Each nominee will need 100 motions of support in order to be eligible to be a candidate
- We ask that you keep your comments on the nomination posts to "I support this nomination" or something to that effect; be kind to those who will need to count the "supports", please.
- Although the nominations and election poll will take place in
lj_election_en, you do not need to watch the community in order to keep up with the election; we'll announce everything here as well.
Everyone here at LiveJournal is looking forward to this first-ever User-Representative election! We'd like to thank everyone who is participating. Some words from our current Advisory Board members:
danah boyd: “LiveJournal is filled with very passionate users. These users have helped shaped LJ's various communities over the last decade and it gives me great joy that LJ is recognizing and incorporating users' voices into the decision-making processes. Having user representatives from different parts of LJ on the Advisory Board will help make sure that the company is meeting the needs of its diverse constituents.”
Esther Dyson: "I'm sure we'll learn a lot from the process, and later on from the two users selected as well. Especially, I hope that the discussions before the voting will be more meaningful and more focused on policy than those in some offline campaigns."
Brad Fitzpatrick: "It's cool that SUP is getting users involved with the LiveJournal decision-making process. I look forward to seeing who the community elects and the results of our efforts working together."
Professor Lawrence Lessig: “The user elections will provide a critical check on LJ's process of maintaining a valuable and trustworthy environment for the LJ community. The mandate of the elections will give the user representatives pride of place among the members of the Advisory Board. Each of us will look to them to guide us in our judgment about how best to make LJ the community we all aspire that it will be. I look forward to welcoming the user representatives, and learning a great deal from them.”
chasethestars has also made some banners for you to use, if you'd like to show your support for the candidate of your choice!
